Five Reasons for the decline of cricket - according to Arjuna

Former cricket captain Arjuna Ranatunga who got the world cup for Sri Lanka said sorry to the prime minister for making hard-hitting speech at a national celebration.

1. The number one reason is corruption. All along the administration has been corrupt. The corrupt administers are not a shame to live out of immoral earnings. Former cricket administrator Thilanga Sumathipala was at the event.

2. The capabilities of the players are not taken in to account .He explained how the batting order was decided and bowlers were selected in a rational manner.

3. Players of his time did not have personal agendas and team spirit was high. Murali bowled one stretch about four hours at the nets. Currently, motivation on and constancy slacking.

4. Players are not supported; especially those from backward backgrounds need to be mentored.

5. Including Arjuna himself the political leadership has failed in nurturing cricket and even the new minister Namal Rajapaksha doesn’t seem to be doing what’s needed
