Dr Rajitha and son to be questioned over fake abduction

Dr Rajitha Senaratne and his son Chathura are in a soup – this time they are to be questioned over a fake abduction of a person claiming to be a journalist. Deputy Inspector General of Police Ajith Rohana told a news conference today that investigations carried out about a claim made that a journalist had been abducted, it has been revealed that the claim is false.

 

The person who claimed to be a journalist he was abducted and tortured before being dropped off at Maligawatta. However investigations revealed that he had burnt himself at his residence in Divulapitiya and that he had travelled by train from Negombo to Dematagoda.

 

Thereafter he had visited an office run by Chathura Senaratne  at Thimbirigasyaya  and spent three hours before he got himself admitted to hospital. The suspect had also met with Dr Senaratne.

 

“The police will question Dr Senaratne and his son on the motive”,  DIG Rohana said.

 

The person who claimed to be working as a journalist for a website has already been taken in for questioning.
