Appropriation Bill 2020 passed at parliament

The Appropriation Bill for the year 2020 was passed in Parliament today (November 12) without a vote.

 

Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa, as the Finance Minister, presented the second reading of the Appropriation Bill 2020 to the parliament this morning.

 

The budget debate followed the presentation of the Bill.

 

The second reading was passed without a vote after the objections of the opposition were recorded.

 

Subsequently, the third reading of the 2020 Appropriation Bill was passed at the parliament without a vote.

 

The Appropriation Bill for the year 2021 is due to be presented to Parliament by the Prime Minister and Finance Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa on November 17 and the subsequent budget debate will continue until December 10.
