Myanmar army kills 114 - Act condemned by Defense chiefs

The   Myanmar army has come under criticism after it indiscriminately fired on people gathered for the funeral of one 114 people killed on Saturday.

 

Defense chiefs of 12 countries condemned the military and said ‘  “A professional military follows international standards for conduct and is responsible for protecting — not harming — the people it serves”

 

Singapore Indonesia and US are among the countries that have come up with strong statements condemning the military rulers of Myanmar.

 

Professor Nalin De Silva , Sri Lanka’s ambassador to Myanmar who posts on the face book about Myanmar  previously said that  after the  coup d’etat  launched on  Feb. 1 everything was calm and peaceful. However he has not posted on the situation since the recent happenings.

 

Sri Lanka has invited a representative of Myanmar’s junta to a meeting of Asian foreign ministers but  has denied  that its gesture endorsed the country’s military coup or  violent suppression of protests.

 

The democratically elected government headed by State Counselor Aung San Suu Kyi  is under arrest.
