French government announces 4-week lockdown as Paris faces the third wave of COVID-19
French Prime Minister Jean Castex announced that a 4 week lockdown will be imposed on Paris, the northern Hauts-de-France region and several other departments in the south of France from the coming weekend.
“The epidemic is getting worse. Our responsibility now is to not let it escape our control,” Prime Minister Castex has told a news conference.
As per the sources, 35,000 new cases of coronavirus have been reported in France on March 18 and there have been more COVID patients in intensive care in Paris than at the peak of the second wave.
He said , “Go outdoors, but not to party with friends."
He also added that France will resume inoculations with the AstraZeneca vaccine now as the European Medicines Agency had confirmed it was safe.
