Ranil to decentralize powers in UNP

As the United National Party (UNP) leader, Ranil Wickremesinghe has decided to establish a high-post committee within the party to develop future leaders. 

 

 

Due to his busy schedule as the head of state, he wants to create a second rung of leaders in the party and be less involved in its day-to-day affairs. 

 

 

The committee will have significant powers, allowing capable leaders to showcase their abilities and rise within the party. In contrast, those without such capabilities will have to step back. The proposal for the committee will be presented at a party convention scheduled for mid-August.
