President hints at positive development on Easter Sunday probe

The progress of the ongoing investigations into the Easter Sunday carnage will be announced in about a week, says President Anura Kumara Dissanayaka.
Speaking on a programme aired on a private TV channel last night, the President said, “The investigations have been expedited and are being carried out in full swing.”
Meanwhile, referring to the investigations related to the treasury bond scams, he stated that the government faces challenges in bringing back former Central Bank Governor Arjuna Mahendran, as he is a Singaporean citizen.
“However, we are exploring options to convince the Singaporean government of the gravity of the case, enabling us to bring him to Sri Lanka,” the President added.
