Removes face mask law in Sri Lanka

From today (June 10) it will not be mandatory to wear face masks indoors and outdoors, the Director General of Health Services has announced.

Sri Lanka's face mask law was first removed subject to conditions in mid-April, but was reversed in view of the large public meetings in the country at the time. Accordingly, it has been made mandatory to wear face masks outdoors again.

However, the law has been repealed as the number of Covid-19 patients and deaths reported in the country has dropped dramatically.
