Red notice for severe lightning strikes in 18 districts

The Meteorological Department has issued a red alert for thunder showers in 18 districts.

 

Thundershowers will develop at several places in the Sabaragamuwa, Central, North Western, Uva, North-Central and Eastern provinces and in the Mannar, Mullaitivu and Hambantota districts.

 

Therefore, the public is requested to take necessary measures to protect themselves from rain and lightning accidents, the department said.

 

Accordingly, 14 districts namely Mullaitivu, Mannar, Vavuniya, Anuradhapura, Trincomalee, Puttalam, Polonnaruwa, Kurunegala, Matale, Batticaloa, Kegalle, Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, Badulla, Ampara, Ratnapura, Moneragala and Hambantota have been named. Said.
